Prior to retiring from the Fire and Rescue Service I held posts such as Brigade Training Manager, Head of Operations Support, Head of Community Fire Safety and Head of Operations with responsibility for operational performance in County Durham.
Since retiring I have been a Parish Councillor on Witton le Wear Parish Council and Chairman for five years.
I have also worked as a volunteer with Victim Support County Durham for six years. For the past year I have represented Northumbria, Durham and Teesside on the National Assembly and am a member of the homicide team.
For the past two years, I have been a volunteer with LINk and am a member of PCP’s Health and Safety Committee.
I consider that I know all parts of the County very well and I have contacts with lots of County organisations.
My philosophy is based on a can and will do attitude and I do not recognise the word ‘cannot’ or any derivative. I will do my best for the organisation at every opportunity.
